Coinbase Commerce Now Allows Businesses to Accept Payments in Stablecoin – USDC

Coinbase Commerce, the cryptocurrency payments platform by Coinbase, will now allow merchants to accept payments in USD Coin (USDC). It is a US Dollar-pegged stablecoin launched by Circle and Coinbase.

The latest development will allow merchants to accept cryptocurrencies without worrying about the volatility normally associated with the asset class. Moreover, merchants can accept USDC without geographical limitations or a bank account. Businesses can accept payments in USDC from customers around the globe in real-time with zero transaction fees.

Launched last year, Coinbase Commerce can be directly integrated into a merchant’s checkout page or added as a payment option with popular e-commerce platforms such as Shopify and WooCommerce. The platform allows merchants to accept payments in Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin and USDC.

Incidentally, Gemini had recently partnered with Flexa to launch an app called Spedn which allows leading retailers in the US to accept cryptocurrencies.
