Samsung Showcases New Cryptocurrency Wallet, Dapps for Galaxy S10

Tech giant Samsung has just revealed details about its new cryptocurrency wallet on its new flagship phone Galaxy S10. According to details first published by CoinDesk, the wallet known as the Samsung Blockchain Wallet, will not support Bitcoin and currently support only Ethereum and ERC-20 tokens. The earlier reports had hinted at the possibility of support for Bitcoin as well.

The Samsung Blockchain Wallet will also support four decentralised apps (dapps). These include Enjin and Cosmee as expected, but the new report has mentioned that Samsung will also support CryptoKitties and payments service CoinDuck.

The wallet can only be downloaded on the Samsung Galaxy S10 and can be accessed from the Samsung Galaxy store. Samsung’s wallet will be made compatible with more devices and cryptocurrencies in the future.

Samsung’s confirmation comes nearly three weeks after reports first emerged that the company’s new phone will come equipped with cryptocurrency private key storage.

Undoubtedly, Samsung’s integration of a blockchain wallet on a mainstream device will garner significant attention from the mobile industry. We expect more smartphone manufacturers to integrate cryptocurrency wallets in their devices in the coming future. Considering the fact that smartphones are ubiquitous, mass integration of cryptocurrency wallets across smartphones may just be the attention the cryptocurrency industry needs right now. From that sense, Samsung may have just kicked off crypto mainstream adoption!
